You are so right! I have a terrible tendency to save my nicer things for some imaginary special occasion when really all of life is a special occasion! I have a question though—what do you do on those days when you feel like the worst version of yourself—maybe you feel you feel bloated or your skin is looking rough, etc.? Those are the times I struggle to get out of my sweats the most and find it extra hard to put in any effort. Just curious if you have any tips to find motivation on those days?
Hi Heidi, I find those days are the days where I need the motivation from getting dressed even more! If I’m in a yuck mood, putting on something comfy but pulled together really helps me out of my funk. Maybe it’s a pair of really comfy pants, a tee, and layering some necklaces. I find wallowing in it only makes it worse. x Julia
I always love your Daily Looks and find so much inspiration from you - in many ways. This is such a great philosophy and something I want to incorporate more into my own life.
I am one of those people who saves nice clothes for special occasions, or when I'm feeling better, more motivated, etc.... and never get around to wearing them. I've done it my whole life and really, really to break out of it! Thanks for the reminder :)
Couldn’t agree more! My mom instilled this in me very young. In middle school and high school we’d have a standardized test and everyone wore sweats and pajamas on that day since we’d get to watch movies afterwards. My mom never let me dress this way, insisting that how I dress impacts how I’d perform. Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t. But it certainly made me feel polished and prepared!
On that note though—do you still dress up on sick days? How did you handle early days postpartum?
Hi! No, I give myself grace on sick days. Resting is what’s important. I found that postpartum, it was even more helpful for me to get dressed. There were definitely days when I did not, but I felt my best on days when I would. It would make me want to get out of the house. It helped me feel “normal” in a totally new world. x Julia

Thank you!! This is good advice and I am going to give it a try! 💕
I would love to know too!
Yes, love this. Getting dressed, with jewelry/makeuo/perfume, has been so essential to me feeling my best transitioning to a SAHM

Thank you so much!
I’m definitely starting this with jewelry. There’s no reason not to wear my nice stuff daily.
Agreed! Same!

Julia, thank you for this. I, too, am guilty for saving outfits for later. Life is happening now. Appreciate you and your beautiful words. 🤍

Do nice lounge sets count? Lol
Yes they do!! If they make you feel good and pulled together - definitely. x Julia
