Julia here!
I love clothes. Always have. Always will. And if I buy them, I wear them—every single day.
Getting dressed isn’t about an event, a meeting, or being seen. It’s about showing up for myself. Choosing an outfit, putting it on, and stepping into the day shifts my mindset. It gives me energy, focus, and a sense of readiness, no matter what’s on the agenda.
Clothes have that power. They can lift a mood, pull me out of a fog, or add a little confidence—even on the quietest of days. Sometimes, the shift is subtle—a reminder that I’m present and engaged. Other times, it’s transformative. A great outfit can turn a slow morning into a productive one.
So why do we so often save our ‘good’ clothes for later? What exactly are we waiting for? A beautiful sweater, a tailored pair of trousers—if they make you feel amazing, they deserve to be part of your life now. There’s no reward for keeping things tucked away, unworn and forgotten.
This isn’t about dressing up for the sake of it. It’s about recognizing that what we wear shapes how we feel. Getting dressed is a small act of care—one that can help you start the day feeling polished, prepared, and like the best version of yourself.
And here’s the best part: When you start wearing the pieces you love, you realize they aren’t just for special occasions. They’re yours. They make the everyday feel brighter, more intentional, more you.
So if you needed a sign to stop saving your favorite pieces for ‘later’—this is it.
If you need a little inspiration, I share my outfits daily in my Daily Look series on my blog. What started in 2016 as a way to motivate myself has become one of my favorite ways to document how I style the pieces I love in real life. Maybe you’ll find something in your own closet waiting for its moment, too.
xx Julia
You are so right! I have a terrible tendency to save my nicer things for some imaginary special occasion when really all of life is a special occasion! I have a question though—what do you do on those days when you feel like the worst version of yourself—maybe you feel you feel bloated or your skin is looking rough, etc.? Those are the times I struggle to get out of my sweats the most and find it extra hard to put in any effort. Just curious if you have any tips to find motivation on those days?
Yes, love this. Getting dressed, with jewelry/makeuo/perfume, has been so essential to me feeling my best transitioning to a SAHM
