Maybe not every year, but definitely every other year or so, always rounding back to the places we love the most (St Rémy de Provence, Lake Como, Venice, Positano, and always London and Paris!!)
We went to Comporta because of your trip and it was the best family trip we've ever had! Thank you so much! We even used Le Collectionist for our home/concierge services :) Immediately adding Paros to the list!
I think there is something special about visiting a place that is familiar, but you can still explore and find new hidden gems. I'd love to hear about your travel strategy with the girls - especially the flights and jet lag.
Defdinitely! We in Europe even have our every-year-same place where we go, and then build everything else around it. Most deffinitely Greece because there's no sea as deep blue as there. The food is fresh and the people are nice!
Once a year I come back to the Argentinian patagonia for some time in nature and good food. I rent a cabin in front of the lake and enjoy the snow in winter or the flowers in the summer. It’s just 2 hours by plane from my hometown. But when I travel abroad I prefer new places to discover for sure. Enjoy your vacations in Greece, looks so dreamy.
We are on year 3 of renting the same house in France. It has its many, many pros, but there’s so much to explore that we feel like we have to challenge ourselves to do both - new places and places we love!
I’m French and I got married in Paros last year after visiting several years in a row. It was such a dream to have all our families and friends in this magical place! I’m so happy you’re falling in love with it. And as much as we love it, we love not feeling « obligated » to go on each vacation and consciously chose to go back, if that makes sense.
Enjoy the rest of your stay and all your next adventures🥰
We own a fractional share of a house in Provence. Each of the ten owners gets 5 weeks a year. Perfect. We feel as if it is our home and yet it allows us to travel near and far (Barcelona, Brittany, the Dordogne, Northern Italy, so far). We never tire of the small village. It is nice to be in a foreign country and yet feel at home.
Having a mainstay place to call yours as a vacation place is an extra special family memory. It doesn't take away the wanderlust or the excitement or possibility of traveling other places! but makes a specific place the place you choose to celebrate birthdays in a familiar and always joyful space. go for it!
Adding Paros to our list! We like a mix of both- we have locations we revisit almost every year that we have deep family ties to and then new places we explore. We’ve been to 40 countries and travelled a lot within those countries and always seem to gravitate back to Provence, Sardinia, Mallorca, and the Dolomites. There have been other places we’ve absolutely loved, but there’s something about falling into the rhythm of a place you know that can be even more magical than discovering something new.
We like to do same type of trip but in new cities or same city, different type of trip (family vs with just friends or different activities bc different seasons). And ofc have some favorite places we come back to as an add on for the year if timing works out ☀️
A mixture of both - every summer we spend a couple weeks on an off the grid gulf island off the west coast of Canada. It’s remote and wild and we love the days spent kayaking, swimming and digging for clams. Now that our kids are a bit easier to travel with we’ve started taking a couple of weeks to a new destination - this spring was Tuscany. Before kids we had this same rhythm; some new and some familiar.
Depends on my state of mind! If Im feeling vulnerable or down and all I need from my holiday is recharging and comfort I would definitely go back to my familiar places - I know what to expect, feels good, and allows me space to recharge without any surprises 😊

We will be going to Paros for the first time next month, and I am excited to see all of your recommendations from your trip!

Is there a travel agent or agency that you recommend for villa rentals? Looking for next summer for my husband’s 40th. Thank you!
Our travel agent: https://www.louisavanntravel.com/ always knows which companies to use depending on the country.
Thank you!!
