If we had to give one piece of advice? Upgrade your phone. We always get the newest iPhone— currently the iPhone 16 Pro Max —and it makes a huge difference. Honestly, unless you’re spending $2,000 or more on a professional camera, just get the latest iPhone. It's that good.

I’ve tested other video gear too, but iPhone video is stable, high-quality, and has solid audio— nothing else is as reliable and easy.
My approach to composition has evolved too. I’m always moving— closer, farther, changing angles— because you don’t really know what works until you review the photos later. I almost always hold the phone level with little to no tilting. If something doesn’t fit in frame, raise or lower the phone, or adjust the distance.
